Disable/Enable USB port




Prevent User to Access USB Port or Restrict USB Port


Hello Friends,

Here I am sharing tricks to block USB storage without any third party.Just follow the below steps to block pen drives, usb storage drive etc. by using registry editor.
By registry editor,you can prevent user to access flash drive, storage drive.
By changing an entry in Registry, you can secure your important data from theft.
opened USB port can be cause of infected system by virus.
So as a network Admin, this is your responsibility to secure your whole network from virus and secure your company's data.

To Block USB Port, Follow below Steps:


  1. Go to Start, open Run by pressing Windows+R button using keyboard.
  2. Type regedit. This command will open Registry Editor.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor.
  4. Now in right panle area, double click on Start.
  5. change the Value Data entry from 3 to 4. (means type in the value data field).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close Registry Editor windows and restart your system to take proper effect.




To Enable USB Port, Follow below Steps:


  1. Go to Start, open Run by pressing Windows+R button using keyboard.
  2. Type regedit. This command will open Registry Editor.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor.
  4. Now in right panle area, double click on Start.
  5. change the Value Data entry from 4 to 3. (means type in the value data field).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close Registry Editor windows and restart your system to take proper effect.


You can try This configuration without help of anybody to secure your system from vulnerability, data theft and Virus which flow in network through USB ports. 


This trick 100% tested and working on all Windows edition, like Windows XP, windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
